Texts & slides

Words and announcement slides your app shows, changed without a new build.

Change what your program says without shipping a new build: a welcome line, a support link, a notice, or a row of announcement slides. Your program receives them every time it signs in.

Pick the app

Texts and slides belong to one application. With more than one app, choose it at the top right; the two tabs, Texts and Slides, show its content.

Texts

Press New text and fill in:

  • Name: for you, like "Welcome message".
  • Key: what your program reads, like welcome_message (letters, digits and underscores). It is made from the name; you can change it before saving, never after, because your program depends on it.
  • Text: up to 100 KB, sent exactly as you write it, line breaks included.
  • Send it to my apps: switch off to keep a text here without sending it. The switch in the table does the same in one click.
The text is plain text. If your program shows it as HTML, escape it there first.

Own values per key

A key can get its own version of a text, for example a different welcome line for your VIP customers. Press on a text, enter the licence key and its text, and Save for this key. Typing a key that already has a value loads it for editing; gives the key the app's text again.

The Own values column shows how many keys have one. Deleting a text deletes its own values too.

Slides

A slide is a picture with a title and an optional line, for example to announce a new version or a sale. Press New slide:

  • Picture: Upload a JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP up to 5 MB, or paste a Link to one. Uploads are checked by their content, made at most 1600 px wide and saved as JPG or PNG so every desktop program can show them; animated GIFs keep moving. Wide pictures (about 560 × 220) look best.
  • Title and Line: the two lines under the picture.
  • Show it: hidden slides stay here but are not sent.

The window shows a live preview while you type. On the page, slides are listed in the order your program shows them: move one with , hide or show it with , edit or delete it. Deleting a slide also deletes its uploaded picture.

An uploaded picture arrives in your program as a path on the PWF Auth server, like /data/uploads/slides/slide_1_….png. Put the server address in front of it: https://pwfauth.com/data/uploads/…. A linked picture arrives as the full link.

Read them in your program

Texts and slides come with every sign-in, in the texts and slides fields of the reply. To read them again later:

VB.NET
' all texts for this key (own values already applied)
Dim texts = (Await client.GetTextsAsync()).GetStringMap("texts")
If texts.ContainsKey("welcome_message") Then lblWelcome.Text = texts("welcome_message")

' the slides, in order
Dim r = Await client.GetSlidesAsync()
Dim slides As JsonElement
If r.TryGetProperty("slides", slides) Then
    For Each s In slides.EnumerateArray()
        Dim title = s.GetProperty("line1").GetString()
        Dim line = s.GetProperty("line2").GetString()
        Dim picture = s.GetProperty("image_url").GetString()
    Next
End If

Only active keys get texts and slides; a banned, paused or expired key gets none.
